As the fire encroached upon residential areas, including Pasadena and Altadena, evacuation orders were swiftly issued to safeguard vulnerable populations.
The staff at The Terraces at Park Marino responded promptly, evacuating 95 senior residents, many of whom rely on wheelchairs or require medical assistance. Images from the scene depicted residents in gowns and blankets, being transported to safety in ambulances and buses.
The swift action of the caregivers and first responders helped move out residents without reported injuries.
The Eaton Fire has had devastating effects on the region, with reports indicating that it has consumed over 10,600 acres and resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries. At least 5 have already been killed as of writing.
The rapid spread of the fire has overwhelmed local resources, leading to evacuations in neighboring areas such as La Cañada Flintridge and parts of Sierra Madre.
In these challenging times, the community's strength and unity have been evident. Evacuation centers have been established, providing displaced people shelter, meals, and medical care. Volunteers and organizations have come forward, offering support and comfort to evacuees.
However, the journey to recovery is just beginning. The residents of The Terraces at Park Marino, along with many others, face the daunting task of rebuilding their lives. This is an opportunity for the broader community to extend a helping hand.
